Sunshine

Don't let this face fool you.  He really is totally jazzed about the flower he planted for me at "school" (Communication Group) this morning.  In fact, he walked out of class saying, "I love Mama", and showed me the flower he planted for me for Mother's Day.  He held it gingerly with "two hands" as instructed by his teacher.  And he never let go :)

The entire car ride home all I heard about was "dirt mama. dirt. wawee (water)".  Last week the teacher told me that this week's theme was "flowers", but apparently Finlay missed the memo, because all I heard about was dirt.

And speaking of dirt.  We spent a lot of time carrying our flower around the kitchen, spilling dirt, sweeping dirt, and in the process of sweeping, usually the broom knocked the flower over again, starting the process all over again.

Once we got our dirt cleaned up INSIDE the house, we decide to go play with dirt OUTSIDE the house.  Actually, it was beautiful out, so we took our snack outside on a blanket.  Since Finlay told me how much he loved me and then gave me a lovely flower, I decided to BE a lovely mother and break out the squiggly straws I picked up in the dollar bin at Target.  Isn't that what lovely mothers do?  Strawberries & squiggly straws, right?

Although, you can't fully enjoy the squiggly straw unless you have your brother to keep you company, and a pinwheel for ambiance.  We moved the pinwheel from the garden to our blanket.  What can I say, we were feeling festive today...

Someone get Laird some sunglasses!

Cheers!  Finlay's a professional "cheerer".  Thankfully we're just cheering Camelbak's and cups of water with squiggly straws...

Hey, kid! Clean off your strawberry face! Oh, that's right, you pulled EVERY last wipe out of the box this morning...

YES to sharing strawberries.  NO to giving them to babies.

I love that Laird WANTS to be happy. Really, you can tell he's trying. But he just can't seem to get into the fact that his stomach was just turned into a drum.

After naps, Finlay decided to take my Chacos for a walk.  But really, they took him for a walk.  Poor kid  kept falling over, but got up again determined to fit the toe strap in between his tiny little toes...

And Laird was so excited we went to get the mail.  He's all over that Vineyard Vines catalog.

Daddy FINALLY came home (I mean, what took so long? Oh, did the Dow plunge 1000 points in 15 minutes or something??)  Laird was so glad to have him home.

Looking up to his favorite daddy...

Looking up to his favorite (6 month old) son...

And of course, Finlay just HAD to join them.  Because where people are, Finlay is also... :)
